Waiting for the vote? Write to Congress!

Okay, so, watching the Senate floor "action" can sometimes be about as fascinating as watching paint dry - even when the issue is as important as the DC Voting Rights Act. May I make a recommendation? Use this time to write your members of Congress and urge them to vote for the this bill.

Will He or Won't He? The License Plate Debate

DC Vote is happy to see the buzz around President-elect Obama's limo license plates (okay so maybe we helped get the buzz started!). You know the story: President Clinton put the 'Taxation Without Representation' plates on, President Bush took them off.

We know that Obama is a supporter of DC voting rights. He was a sponsor of the Senate version of the DC Voting Rights Act. But, will he send a message to the millions of inaugural parade by cruising down Pennsylvania Avenue with 'Taxation Without Representation' on his bumper on January 20? Let's hope so. It's not the most significant step but it sends a clear message to the more than have a million District residents that he cares about this issue. And perhaps even more importantly, it sends a message to the millions of tourists who may not have even heard that Taxation Without Representation is alive and well in America's capital.

DC Vote Victory Looks Promising in 2009

The possibility of victory looks good but that doesn't mean we don't have a tough road ahead. We will need your help! Join us for a Veterans Day Rally on November 11th. We're honoring the nearly 200,000 DC residents who have fought to defend America while being denied democracy at home. Republican Champions of DC Voting Rights

In September 2007, eight Republican senators voted in favor of the DC House Voting Rights Act. They stood up for civil rights and now stand on the right side of history. Senator Olympia Snowe is one of those senators.
